My husband is an electrician, and last year he had what I assume was a heat stroke. He passed out walking across the lawn, and then was very weak and feverish with vomiting for several days.
Since then, he has had an extreme intolerance to heat. If the temperature is set on 60 degrees, he's sweating and very irritable. He says this is from his heat stroke, or whatever he had-he says his body just cannot tolerate heat of any kind anymore. We have to sleep in different rooms of the house now, because he keeps it so very cold in there, and I am cold natured myself!
So yesterday, he was working in an attic. Heat index outside was 106 degrees, so the attic was MUCH hotter than that! He got very dizzy, clammy, and weak, and threw up several times. Today he is still throwing up occasionally and is unable to work.
Is there anything he can do or take (supplements, vitamins, herbs, etc.) to get his body back to normal? Avoiding hot weather is not going to work, as it is his job unfortunantly. :(
How old is your husband? Is he taking any meds? Does he have any long standing nagging health issues?
I saw quite a bit of this as a medic in Vietnam. Summer of 06 my wife had a bit of it at the beach.
Heat stroke is NOT good and nothing to take lightly. It can kill you.
However, once the emergency is handled he shouldn't have a problem with heat sensitivity. There's something else going on.
Plenty of water (distilled) and get some good salt going in. Good salt not the store bought kind. Himalayian sea salt is the best. Distilled water.
There's something else going on. In Vietnam once we got the body temp lowered and a little rest the guy was right up at it again. Of course we were all very young at the time. And my wife last Summer was fine after about an hour. Plenty of water and cool the body down. This past Summer was NOT a problem for her. No heat sensativity.
So, there's something else going on. If he's on the meds take a close look at the contraindictions.
Also, check with Barefoot. He might have a few tricks up his sleeve about this. But in general you don't get heat sensativity from heat stroke.
My husband just turned 40 years old. He has no health problems at all, other than the occasional kidney stone. He smokes cigarettes, but does not drink. He takes no medicines at all, besides otc sinus medicines. Says he drinks a lot of water, but I don't believe him, as I never see him drinking it at home, only diet cokes. I hate it that he cannot tolerate temperatures above 60 degrees, as I have to walk around in sweaters and we have to sleep in seperate bedrooms so he can stay cool with tons of fans, and I can stay warm with all my blankets. lol
Kidneys directly affect heat sensativity. The occasional kidney stone indicates problems with the mineral balance in his entire body. That's a problem that needs to be addressed otherwise he'll start having many other problems before he hits 50.
Anything "Diet" has aspartame in it. Nasty stuff. A strong neurological POISON.
If he's in pretty good shape now he can do the "Baiscs" program. Get a hold of Barefoot and do his kidney regime. The heat sensativity issues are a warning shot. Take heed. Many other problems are on their way if he does nothing.
If he choses to do nothing make sure he's well insured. Don't want to scare you just giving you ample warning.
