I started having hot flashes about 8 months ago. In searching for help with this, I began taking DIM plus which helped, hot flashes pretty much were gone. However, in the last 2 weeks they came back so I increased my dose of the DIM plus 4 per day, had been taking 2. It did not help. The only thing I have done different in the last 6 weeks is clean up my diet to following a whole foods diet and exercising more.   [End]

  • Perimenopausal - breasts getting bigger?! by AngelofEventide   3 mon  158

The last month, I’ve notice an increase in size of my breasts. I’m 46. My whole life I’ve been a modest B cup. I feel like I could easily be a C now. They are noticeably rounder on the sides and feel heavier, and I definitely have more cleavage My weight is not up, in fact I’ve lost a few pounds. My mom’s friend told me when she went through Meno that she went from a C to G cup! Has anyone else experienced this? I’m not complaining mind you, just surprised.   [End]

I was convinced I had carpal tunnel syndrome of my right wrist. I couldn’t use a mouse for more than a few seconds without my hand becoming numb and tingly. I also frequently woke up in the night with both arms feeling dead. Both these problems disappeared after removing the Mirena. I also had migrating joint pain. Long story short- I was eventually diagnosed with 2 autoimmune diseases: Hashimoto’s thyroiditis and RA. I hope you get the Mirena removed ASAP.   [End]

Also, if you have a fibroid on an ovary, you can heal it yourself. There are many good recommendations here for this too. I had my period this past Feb. for 3 weeks. I went to the doctor and they did a biopsy right there in the office. The usually do this routinely if you’ve been bleeding for an extended period of time. I ended up having endometrial hyperplasia and am now on a 3-mo course of Provera to hopefully clear it up. If that doesn’t clear it up, I need to have a hysterectomy, as the hyperplasia could possibly lead to cancer. I have five weeks left of the Provera. I’m keeping my fingers crossed. The Bartholin glands are a pair of pea-sized, vulvovaginal, mucous-secreting vestibular glands that are located in the labia minora in the 4- and 8-o’clock positions, beneath the bulbospongiosus muscle. A Bartholin cyst is a fluid-filled sac that develops in one of the Bartholin glands or ducts when the duct that drains the fluid from the gland becomes blocked and causes the duct and gland to swell. A Bartholin gland abscess develops either when a Bartholin cyst becomes infected or when the Bartholin gland itself becomes infected.   [End]

Our stories are very similar. I hope your doctor did thyroid testing as many women with the Mirena end up with damagede thryoid glands, become hypothryoid, and need meds for the rest of their lives. After the Mirena was removed, my episodes of joint pain became less frequent and decreased in severity. I’m around 1 year post removal and about 90% better. I still feel my joints are more easily injured with exercise or activity than before the Mirena, but at least the worst of it seems to be over. I’m so glad you’re having yours removed before things get worse.   [End]

I had the Mirena inserted at about the same age as you. It took almost 5 years of horrible side effects to figure out it was the Mirena. I wish I had realized earlier it was the Mirena before things got so bad: high blood pressure, weight gain, severe joint and muscle pain, hot flashes, carpal tunnel, pressure urticaria, tinnitus, sinus problems, sore throat problems, heart palpitations, exhaustion, and a damaged thyroid gland. Yes...it’s the Mirena. Many other women have this side effect and many refer to it as ”brain fog” from the hormones. You might be ”feeling the hormone release”? Sounds rather silly to me. Perhaps your IUD isn’t positioned properly or you’re bloated like so many others. I know other women have also complained of this problem. You can do a search while in this forum by typing in the box ”brain fog” or ”bladder” and you’ll find other stories like yours.   [End]
