This is how I started to gain weight. Take methylfolate. Have you looked into the MTHFR gene? You may have it which means you are not absorbing B6, B9, or B12 efficiently. Try taking the methyl forms of those supplements and this will help you gain weight. It worked for me. Took me 36 years to figure this out! I am taking Quatrefolic (Vitacost brand) (2) 800 mg. It takes awhile for the body to adjust so don’t get discouraged. I have heard good things about Metafolin and Quatrefolic. Some other great brands are Whole Health Centers Folate Support, Methyl Life, and Seeking Health. I had the hardest time keeping weight on my whole life and now that I am taking this Folic Acid, the weight is staying and I feel much better. The body’s endocrine system is extremely complex and there are so many different hormones that interact in different ways. Ayurveda doesn’t focus on this too much, they correct the underlying energy imbalances and the entire endocrine system is repaired. Before you go, do a little research about the three main body types, air, water, fire just so you can understand what they are saying. I am certain you are doing much better since your current diet is probably much better than the way you ate before. However, your diet could use some adjustments as well. The dairy, I would say, has got to go as well as the olive oil. The oil is not in its natural state. It has been removed from the fruit and is pure fat, which can contribute to acne. Candida is present in everyone’s body. You can’t kill it. You can, however, return it to normal levels. The only thing that has helped me is a low fat 100% raw vegan diet. you might be reacting to the proteins from the coconut milk. switch to coconut oil, it has no proteins. the reaction is from the leaky gut that the candida has caused because it grew roots in your GI tract and now food particles are passing in to your blood stream. you’ve gotta heal those holes. an allergy skin prick test told me what I was allergic to, and staying away from those foods, my skin is totally clear. however, some milk or wheat or chicken, or, as I just found out, certain fermented foods, and i’m all broken out again. it’s cuz I haven’t healed the holes yet, I believe. ...

Finally a candida post that mentions the mind/body aspect of recovery! This is one thing I have stressed over and again in my candida book entitled Candida Crusher, that stress and your emotional state has a most profound effect on your immune system, and ultimately will govern the recovery time from candida. It’s not just about a ”perfect diet”, baloney. It’s not just about ”the best kill pills”, baloney too. It’s about lifestyle (including diet) as an 80% factor in healing, and supplements and specialized foods account for 20%. At least that’s my take on it. [End]

Although consuming enough calories is important when one is very active, calorie-restriction has absolutly nothing to do with your symptoms. If you have acne then it is from acids. The diet must be changed to alkaline and I would suggest bentonite asap. Once diet is changed and the bentonite is taken once, twice maybe three times daily for a couple of weeks, the acne will disappear like magic to be replaced by a healthy glowing skin. [End]

No need to take probiotics if the colon is a mess, try taking the bentonite with psyllium and the psyllium will cause the good bacteria to grow while the bentonite clears out the bad and any yeast overgrowth. Take it until improvement occurs then drop to a level that will maintain colon health.. Avoid all acid foods, all junk foods, all dairy, wheat, and fried foods. Limit meat intake, improve vegetable and raw food intake. Avoid MacDonalds like it was the black plague. [End]

Hello, I am new to the forums and I have some questions about P and B shakes. I was diagnosed with candida about 6 years ago and have been in an ongoing battle with it ever since. I started my 3rd candida cleanse about 3 weeks ago. I’m using Nystatin for the first time and I’ve had some terrible die-off sickness with it. Thanks so much for the reply. I have decided to give the charcoal a try first and see if it helps. I’ll also be looking into purchasing an enema kit today. Do you have any suggestions on dosage and method of ingestion (pills or powder) for the charcoal? Should I incorporate some psyllium husk in to help with elimination? I have tested positive for leaky gut, is psyllium husk powder safe to use in this case, and if not what could I substitute? [End]

For intensive cleansing, I’ve used up to 5 Tbsp a day of activated charcoal powder, 1 Tbsp at a time. I’ve found that Zeolite powder was also very beneficial, but it is very expensive. Psyllium husk is a great addition, but some have problems with it. Drink a lot of water when you take it. Ground flax seeds can replace it. [End]

I’ve been on synthroid for 8 years. Endo likes the TSH to be under 2. Last spring, the TSH went up over 3 and it was the first time that my anxiety, jumpiness and craziness disappeared. I always felt like I was jumping out of my skin and every little thing stressed me out. I had no idea it was linked to my thyroid. I thought maybe the meds, but not the TSH itself. Now after being on Iodoral, my TSH is over 6. The free T4 is within range. She doesn’t test the free T3. After doing a lot of reading, I understand that the TSH is a worthless test and that iodine can raise it temporaril ...

Agreed. Its not that Natway’s advice is wrong, I would strongly recommend most people at least consider it. But it is controversial considering that most other programs stress the opposite approach. Yes, there is such a thing as too much water..However, I think it depends on the diet. With the way a lot of people eat today with the fast food and all it is necessary to drink 6-8 glasses a day. For others who include lots of fresh fruits and veggies i don’t feel it would be necessary to drink all of that. I still go by the urine, if it is too dark, you need water..if it is pale yellow..okay. [End]

Yes, I agree that of course there are other factors that affect kidney health, metals etc. Sure we should drink clean water and previously I would have agreed with you that about 4 liters is a good amount, but now I have realized that drinking this much water has actually been stopping my kidneys from being able to do what they are supposed to do. It is these broad generalizations that we need to get away from. The fact is everyone will need a different amount of water and this can easily be followed by drinking when we are thirsty and no one will ever convince me otherwise ever again. ...

It’s true that too much water isn’t good for the body, however those of us with low blood pressure can certainly benefit from a little extra. It is increases fluidity of the blood, allowing it to circulate with more ease. From personal experience, this is especially true with postural hypotension. To avoid imbalancing electrolytes, it’s always good to add a pinch of sea salt to drinking water. Plus dehydration causes some very nasty symptoms. I believe that every body is different, and if you pay close enough attention, your body will tell you what it needs. I don’t force myself to do anyt ...

Yes I am still eating kitchari on a regular basis. The alterations that I have made to my diet are in consideration that even though my main dosha is pitta, my vitiated vata is what is actually causing all the problems.
