The best book that outlines all paths of yoga is the Bhagavad Gita. There are many different translations and many different interpretations. Personally, I like Paramahansa Yogananda’s translation and interpretation of the Bhagavad Gita. It is quite long and in depth and an amazing book. [End]

The Gita is a small but significant part of the Upanishads which itself is a small part of the larger work of the Vedas. The Patanjali Sutras are probably the best overview since Patanjali himself is credited with innovating Yoga. Thank you for your great answer. I do want to add that before I meditate, I place a white light around myself. Also, when I do meditate, I ask for a specific guide. Over a year ago, when I wasn’t meditating, he showed himself to me and introduced himself asking what he could do for me. I didn’t answer him at the time because his unexpected appearance flustered me. probably depends on whether you are talking about the person’s own evil intent (guides won’t help there) or the evil intentions of those who would try and sever humans from their guides. also, and I do recall discussions on this way back, we are all connected, so raising consciousness in people in general would at the same time raise your own level. one reason why the masses must be manipulated and kept in the dark for the those with intentions opposed to the creator to carry out their schemes...
