I’m 37 y.o. I was diagnosed with Gilbert’s this Fall after having high total bilirubin (1.9) while everything else was normal. Everyone tells me 1.9 is not high enough such that you would appear jaundiced, but I swear when I look in the mirror I have a yellow tinge, and the skin on my face itches a little. It concerns me that I’m having a lot of symptoms, when doctors assure me it is not a condition that causes any problem or requires any treatment. There are many theories associated with this phenomenon in fact. Hi Desperadonyc5 ... ... Thanks for the suggestions. Unfortunately ground flax seed exacerbates my abdominal pain, as do a lot of other high fibre foods. Hi ... ... I was just browsing the posts, and discovered this late one. ITs interesting, because now my stools are constantly yellow. After 6 flushes. The last 1 my bile came out still yellow. The one before I released a massive stone - 1 1/2 inches. I wish I knew about the stool colour. Maybe I have released all my stones and I have no bile generation going on? [End]

Not harmful? ... ... Maybe its a co-incidence that people with gilberts syndrome suffer more from: ... digestive complaints that someone who hasn’t? Maybe the syndrome isn’t a syndrome after all and it has no bearing on any ill affect and it was named a syndrome for some other reason that a syndrome is used for. To say gilberts syndrome is not harmful would mean saying biliruben is not needed in the digestive system to break food down. [End]

So, I went to the doctor because my hair started suddenly falling out excessivley. I mean, I’ve been thinning for two years now (I’m 25), but it all just started falling out in a matter of 3 weeks. I got frightened so I got some blood work done. I was told I have Gilbert’s Disease. The doctor told me the disease and hair were not related. However, after doing some research I’ve found some similar stories about the hair loss. Is there a way to stop this??? If this keeps up I will have no hair on the top of my head in a matter of weeks. I was diagnosed with Gilberts disease in my early 20’s and promptly forgot about it. It was recently brought to my attention again and I am now wondering if it may explain some problems I have had in recent years. These relate mainly to stomach pains. Eventually the pain disappeard, although has reappeard intermittently and generally when I am stressed. Coumd this be associated with GD. ... Secondly I have real probelms with dehydart ...
