Why do people have such faith in antidepressants when double blind studies suggest their faith is misplaced?
a) the placebo effect
b) Most people spontaneously recover from depression and attribute their recovery to the drug.
c)The drugs initially stimulate the adrenals and therefore energize people although this is eventually followed by chronic fatigue and adrenal crash
d)The drugs make people spacey and disoriented so they don't perceive the damage being done just as a drunk resents having his car keys taken because he thinks he is'nt impaired.Many times the family members are the first to notice the negative changes.
e) People put doctors and PhDs on a pedestal and believe their "chemical imbalance" nonsense.
f) Because of genetic differences , some people are slow excreters and have the most severe effects . Only one percent of black people have a genetic variant coding for cytochromes that causes slow excretion whereas ten percent of whites are slow excretors. Doctors don't test for this before prescribing drugs.
