No, the chemo makes the whole body sick. As a result, the patient gets nauseous, either does not want to eat or can not keep the food down.
Some of the sickness may be a product of die-off, but most chemo will make you sick even if it is not killing cells. The only question is whether or not a person is so sick that they can not eat or can not keep their food down.
