Re: aggressive behavior towards toys

my oldest daughter went thru a phase similar to that when she was 2 or three. she would step on her stuffed animals or kick them. i would always remind her that we do not treat animals that way. she was a very happy little girl. there are times when a parent has to put their foot down and let them know that you are in the middle of something. i let my children know that i love them and that i will be more than happy to help them after i am done doing what i need to do. as for yelling at her baby doll she is probably trying to process in her mind what happens when you tell her you are having your lunch. in my opinion she sounds like a little girl that is well loved and cared for. she is probably transitioning from the baby to a toddler phase. i think children need to know that we need to take care of ourselves too.
my daughter was a "high maintenance child". i learned that when i gave her every ounce of attention that i had that i started to resent her. my daughter is now 11 yrs. old. she is very loving and treats people and animals with respect. in my opinion, if you do not take private time for yourself, it is better to start now than later. they need to know that you have limits now, because they only get bigger and more demanding if you let them. you are doing a good thing when you take time for yourself.
