You're being awfully hard on someone who really sounds rather pathetic. Put yourself in her shoes - no confidence, 20 years older, dominated by people half her age, low-level job that she will probably never rise above... Even if she wanted to defend you (she probably did), she probably felt too powerless to do it. Since you aren't afraid of confrontation and all that - why don't you just tell her how you feel - that you feel betrayed, hurt, angry, etc. and let her explain herself?
