pinworms are very tenacious

children get them, they are shamed for scratching their butts, they are embarassed/afraid to tell their parent their butt itches, they suffer with it for years

as adults the itching becomes unbearable because the colonies have gotten so big

a dose large enough to kill them all, would how likely be lethal to the person

therefore most people attain relief by diminishing the size of the colony living inside them

the hardiest ones survive, natural selection, results in resistant strain

the only way to get rid of them is regular repeated extermination

and because so many people are carrying them around, not doing anything about it, the only way reinfection is certain, unless you can figure out how to move into a sterile bubble and live there permanently

therefore, regular routine maintenance is the only way to keep ridding yourself of them

rotating the products you use to fight them is important, to keep them off guard, so they never know which kind of poison you are going to hit them with next, get them used to dodging one product, stop for a few days and bait them with something they love, then hit them again with something different
