Re: Can someone help me find a good debate on this subject?

Thanks to everyone for taking time to help. I have asked him and am still seeking and awaiting an answer. I have always believed in Jesus Christ as our Lord and God but he does say that the Bereans were more nobel than others because they searched the scriptures in the old testament to see if these things were true.

I believe from that right there, it shows that God expects us to go to the Old testament and to search it and interpret it properly because the old testament is what the Lord Gave the Jews to know about the messiah and how to recognize him in the first place.

I believe God expects us to use his word above any sign or goosebumps that we get. I have plenty of things that have happened to me that have always made me say, this is God. I have also had plenty of false signs happen to me too, and at the time it seemed to be God.

For that reason there I will not use signs and so forth to testify to Jesus. I am trying to go by scripture. Yes I know the Holy Spirit will convict us of truth. I think the Holy Spirit sends others to help us understand the bible though. I know in the New Testament there was a person who didn't understand what they were reading and God sent a disciple to help them.

These doubts I am having are not something that just came overnight. They came from me seeing what appeared to be mistakes and contradictions in the bible. To the point that I needed to prove to myself that the Bible was the word of God. Many times I searched and searched and got the answers I needed to put away a certain doubt that came about. Now I have these new things that are really bothering me and I need to search it out. The Bereans did and so will I. I have read a lot of scriptures I have used to prove to myself that Jesus was real. I did not read in depth however and that is where the Jewish rabbi comes in. He makes a very compelling argument.

He speaks of how Christians will take a verse out of context instead of thoroughly reading the entire passage and book into which it was written, and so therefor do not see that the passage is not speaking of the Messiah but of someone else. My thoughts before I read it myself was, yeah right ok. After reading it though, it was very hard to argue with. So here I am still looking for answers.

Anyways I am going to leave this link. I am hoping someone may go to it and read the answers this Rabbi has given and if they know of any good apologetic sights refuting this site than I would appreciate the information.
