As far as the new and immproved theory that glutamate imbalance rather than serotonin deficiency is the cause of depression , I would take it with a grain of salt.Brain disorders are very complex . Scientists have a very limited understanding of the chemistry of consciousness, or of how problems in the brain's electrical circuitry affect the ability to think , learn, form memories etc.Top neurologists and psychiatrists such as Dr Greengard admit that we don't know the basis of psychiatric disorders.Most new theories are over hyped , often to sell us the newest drugs .If brain inflamation causes mental disorders, water fasting is the best remedy for inflamation in general.Drugs that reduce inflamation have terrible side effects and will make the inflamation worse in the long run.
