IBS is more recognized by western medicine than Leaky Gut Syndrome. My niece, who is a nurse, and also has been diagnosed with IBS, explained to me that IBS is generally diagnosed after all other conditions have been ruled out. The treatment plan prescribed by her doctor that works well for her is a no ‘white foods’ diet, which would be white rice, potatoes, breads, milk, dairy products, etc., as well as no caffeine or sodas. She does eat fruits, yogurt, and some vegetables, whole grain foods, like all-bran cereal, brown rice, etc.
