People often say vegans need to be very careful about their diets. This may be true but it's no less true than for anyone else. Meat eaters suffer at least as much dietary inadequacies as vegans are reported to. The only difference is that the meat eaters problems are far better reported being the mainstream. And since the vegan diet, just like fasting, isn't well researched, there's free license to make sweeping claims about the reasons it doesn't work based on a few testimonials from people who have failed on it. 0 of 0 (0%) readers agree with this message. I've been vegetarian and vegan on and off since I had my last bit of flesh over 20 years ago and I've never been careful about my diet. I've never taken pills to supplement the food I eat. I just eat what I want when I want to eat it. I'm fit and strong and don't suffer any serious physical illnesses or problems with my body. That may be just good luck or genes maybe but if there was a problem with the vegetarian or vegan diet on my body I would certainly have found it out by now. I never watch my iron intake and actively avoid any foods that are supposed to boost my B12 intake. Dried yeast, yick stay away! lol Give me real food!
And I've never soaked my nuts. I eat them as they come. Soaking and sprouting makes super foods for sure, but again isn't eating them more akin to grazing than fruitarianism? In other words they are great for us but not necessary for our diet in any great quantity, any more than they would be in the wild. The nuts and seeds themselves are what we are designed to consume.
The moral of the story is you can't half ass any diet. And everyone who eats less than half raw food is literally half assing it. Veganism is as healthy as any other diet, and in avoiding many of the foods that are not designed for our bodies is healthier than most.
Andrew.
