just coughed up something wierd

I just coughed up a wierd little yellowish thing i have no idea what it is, it is small, almost the size of a lentil, and it smells veryyy bad, almost like feces. It's kind of mushy but also firm. I almost threw up because I was so disgusted. It's happened maybe 2 other times in the past. what is this? and how do i get rid of it? and is it any indication to other symptoms I might have?
