      What he/she may have meant is that the water will grow nasties. So can you clean it out every few days? Not sure what the manufacturer recommends.

      Evap coolers work best in dry/arid areas of the country, such as the West, since heat is required to evaporate the water… but as a result it makes the air more humid. Is that what you want? An air conditioner will dehumidify AND cool.
