Orthorexia Nervosa and what to do about it??

hi there.
ok i don't really kknow if i'm in the right place so if i'm not perhaps someone could point me in the right direction.

for many years now my father has been suffering from an eating disorder but i had never really bothered to look up what it could be until today.

my research has drawn me to the conclusion that he may be suffering from what is known as Orthorexia Nervosa, an obsession with chasing the "pure" diet.

his story is: that before i was born he used to be an A grade AFL player and ate meat three times a day and drank and did all the usual things a young man would consider normal for his age. one day he copped a really hard knock to the head and tells me this was his life altering moment. he says he was always congested and this led him to believe it was from his diet. this is where the problem started. he took his diet full swing in the opposite direction and over the many years (at least 30), has managed to convince himself that nearly every food other than all natural and fully vegan is the only food that he can eat. i'm starting to worry because it seems as if everytime i see him there is something else that he cannnot tolerate. if i offer him a bite of something to eat that does not comply with his dietry beliefs he will instantly reply "oh i can't eat that, my stomach cannot handle it" or "this will give me some reation." etc etc. it is even getting to the piont that a simple annesthetic from a dentist removing his teeth will knock him rotten for weeks, and recently i have discovered that he is now limiting his daily water intake because too much fluid makes him urinated frequently at night, disrupting his sleep. he has always been a really intelligent man until recently. his body and mind resembles that of a frail old man at least in his eighties, but alas he is but 63.

is there anyone out there who has any suggestions, it would greatly be appreciated. i know and understand that death is something unavoidable in life, but i want to see father die of ald age instead of an eating dissorder.
