Hi Julie,
thanks for your response, I read it earlier but could not respond till
just now. I knew a bit about glutathione, not that much, but this
really helps to educate me. Unlike yourself, I live in a fairly clean
environment and have for many years. We live about 2 miles from the
ocean as the crow flies, where there are almost constant ocean breezes
(sometimes high winds), and the air is exceptionally clean for a semi-
urban environment here on the Monterey Bay, in Central CA. I consider
myself very blessed. We have the beaches and the trees nearby. I've lived
in the area since 1976. I've also maintained a fairly clean diet all
these years, and began my periodic fasting in 1977, when I was 27. My
husband and I rarely eat out; when we do it's usually Italian, or
California style (lots of fish and seafood) (yeah, I know, mercury, etc.).
There is virtually no protein food which is safe. I do cook grass-fed
beef at home, and try to avoid poultry and beef in restaurants, the
few times per year we do go out. I'm very careful about my diet. I have
stated that on this forum a couple of times, but I know you are fairly
new here (at least to me!). Junk food is just not in the picture, and
never has been. I'm a McDonald virgin! I don't know too many folks who
can really say that! My folks were very careful and strict about what
we ate, and I have to admit that as kids my sister and I were spoiled
living abroad for our formative years, and getting exquisitely cooked
locally grown food as our daily fare. When we were in our teens, our
mom did not allow junk, no soda, no white bread, etc. and as a result,
my sister and I grew up to be pretty conscious about what we put into
our bodies for nutrition, myself more than my sister, as she is not
into the nutritional value as much as I, she is more into the gourmet
side of things (she is a marvelous cook!). So MSG just does not figure
in this picture. I make virtually everything I cook from scratch. There
are sauces for marinating that I buy, but I get those from stores which
are highly conscious of issues such as MSG, soy, fractionated fats, etc.,
a locally owned and operated one of a kind health food store which has a meat/fish/poultry dept. and Trader Joe's, and for all my produce, and
items like preserves, olives and honey, bee pollen, etc., eggs, I go
to our local farmer's markets twice a week. One is a 14-mile round-trip,
if that gives you some idea of my motivation! I think this all might give
you some idea of the attention, time and resources I devote to my good
health and nutrition. I stopped eating wheat about 3 years back, and
most dairy a couple years back. I'm not perfect, by any stretch, but
I do give it my best effort. It's not healthy to be fanatical, I find.
So I will give the glutathione posts a good read and see if I am missing
that in my diet. The knee stuff is due to weak kidneys (I have high
cortisol as well) and I have a feeling I've been dealing with this
issue long before I ran across Iodine as a supplement to take for
optimal health. I had a bad kidney infection that seemed to come out
of the blue (except I had had a UTI about 3 months before the kidney
infection, and had taken antibiotics for it) and since then my health
has never really been at the level it was before. I got a chronic
fatigue syndrome, and never had the level of energy that I should have
had, given my age. I was around 34 when this happened. So with the
compromised kidneys, I used iodine, and I did not know about the kidney-
knee connection till Grzbear mentioned it on the forum sometime back
in winter '07 when I first began reading this forum. It made a huge
impression on me, as he has had far more severe issues with his knees
than I ever did. So this time around, when I started using iodine again,
I knew beyond all doubt that the knee pain was directly connected with
my kidneys, especially as I'd just had a diagnosis of kidney inflammation
from a QXCI-SCIO practitioner (it is a high-tech diagnostic tool which
is very sensitive and can report all kinds of information about one's
level of health or illness, and conditions one has; some of those
conditions may be hidden, such as fungus, virus exposure, bacteria,
and the like. Newport's health updates are from reports he gets from
this sort of practitioner. So...until I heal up my kidneys I do think
it would be prudent to lay off the iodine. I really need to get back to
a decent sleep pattern, to stop being in pain, and back into my
exercise routine. I did do some 7 liver flushes, but didn't get the huge
numbers of stones out that I read about on the LF forum. They may well
be impacted. I used the Julia Chang liquid herbs to prepare for 6 out of
the 7 flushes. I have done 2 courses of parasite cleanses using the
Humaworm product and didn't really see any difference. I had also done
parasite cleansing in the distant past, once when I was suffering from
that. As I mentioned earlier, I have a long history of fasting, some short,
and some longer. I did the 30-day OJ fast which MH talks about on his
Ask Barefoot forum, only the first 2 weeks was beets/carrots/cuke/parsley
or beet green juice (much more grounding than oranges!). I also have done
high colonics, enemas and coffee enemas, though not lately. So I have
done a fair amount of cleansing, and began it at a time when it was a
rarity to hear (or even read) of such things. I had my mercury amalgams
out in 1987-88, and did chelation in 1999-2002 (I hadn't heard about
chelation when I had my Amalgams out, all 14 of them, it was not talked
about then) but there is probably a good chance I still have mercury in
the usual hiding places! So I've done a lot of work on myself, am still
doing it, and will probably always do so, as long as I can afford to, at
least (this is becoming a bit of a problem lately!).
The best of luck to you in your healing process, I wish you perfect
health! that goes for all of us.
~Julie
