regarding staying away

I agree. But how? It's impossible. I mean, it's literally not going to be possible to stay away from everyone who drinks. I'm a twenty something year old. Everywhere I go, I will meet people between the age of 18-40 (the general age group of people I meet) who drink. Everyone drinks. NOt everyone is an alcoholic, but everyone drinks and parties.

I'm going to be backpacking around the world. I will meet people at hostels and hotels. They will be drinking. Of course.. I mean.. of course.

I guess what I'm saying is how exactly am I supposed to stay away from people who use? It's not possible unless I join the mormon church (NO) or hide in a house alone the rest of my life. I have to learn to find people who care about me and treat me with respect. People who don't live to drink. How does this happen? You think it's just law of attraction? That because I'm in the pits of addiction thats all I'm attracting to me right now?

Because I want to be able to meet GOOD people, whether they drink or not, who aren't alcoholics. Im okay with people who drink occasionally, it's the toxic alcoholics who attempt to get me to use with them thats the problem. The people I know who are not alcoholics NEVER try and tempt me into drinking, but I only know one person who isn't an alcoholic. :(

The only other place I can think of to meet friends who don't drink is churches and what not but I AM NOT someone who can do that. I won't compromise my spiritual beliefs and they do not align with any organized religion at ALL, in fact Im super against it.
