Re: Dr. unsure what to make of labwork. Ordered special test

Thank you for your post. I want to let you know that there are no doctors on this Forum - the "MD" comment above was a tongue n' cheek thing.

A few comments on what you said:

"First visit to the doctor, he took a biopsy. Results came back non-specific for Lupus or other autoimmune conditions, but could not rule them out. Showed some cyst like activity in the trough over the eyebrow, where the biopsy was taken and Dr. said this could be from an inflamed eyebrow hair, and probably not related to the problem."

The fact that there was a "cyst" may indicate that your problem could be parasite related. However, I'm familiar with what Lupus can do (I have a relative that has it) and what you've described does sound very similar. In saying this, I've also learned that there is NEVER just one thing that causes a condition - there are generally many co-infections involved and this is what makes things difficult to pinpoint even when there is a main condition that seems obvious.





"He then ordered bloodwork including Lupus panel and non-specific autoimmune diseases. Tests came back with negative ANA for Lupus. I should note that around 11 or so years ago, I did test positive for possible Lupus - elevated ANA and sed rate."

There are various reason why tests are returned negative/positive, which can be false results. The reason for these problems has to do with the testing methods. I would suggest having another Lupus test and compare the 3 results with your doctor. When I had worked around doctors, they were in agreement that sometimes it is best to have 2-3 other opinions and many tests to get to find the problem.





"The doctor once me to go with him to a special once a month gathering of dermatological meeting that he goes to each month. He takes only his difficult to diagnosis patients like me, to have other doctors examine me, and sort of brainstorm to see if they have and ideas as to what is causing my face to sink in."


AND

"Aside from the medical doctor, I am treating with an ND for parasites (wonder if the face thing could be parasite related?), heavy metals, leaky gut, systemic candida, sluggish thyroid, liver, pituitary and pancreas, and fungal/mold connection."

Although things maybe showing up as a dermatitis problem, these things are often an INTERNAL problem that has surfaced by showing up on the outside. If you are able, I'd like to suggest that you see a Hematologist (a blood specialist) with a follow-up to an Infectious Disease specialist. You may or may not have anything show up (again, because of bad testing methods), but you also what to do everything possible to rule out things.
