Making Tinctures- Weight or volume?

When making tinctures, do you measure parts by volume or weight? I have read that Dr. Christopher's formulas are by weight and most of Dr.Schulze's seem to be by by volume. Or does it vary and if so, how do you know which way to go? Sometimes it can make a big difference depending on which way you measure.

Any tips on where to keep them and how to shake a lot of them in a short amount of time.

Maybe you could just walk us through making a tincture. With detailed instructions. I know it isn't rocket science, but I like to gather information first to save myself from too many mistakes!
