I learned something new recently: that resilience actually means being able to source help where you need it including resourcing others for support, information and advice. Many of us think quite the oppositive, as if, never asking for help means we are strong and resilient.

Back to your history (and mine)I personally do believe insecure attachment is the key to alot of problems later in life; eg gravitating to what is known, rather than what is needed to heal you. There's a heap of literature out there on the subject; and I was so glad to read that if you are able to make positive, respectful and reliable attachments in your later life, this can in fact be very healing. You know intellectually who not to go out or associate with; and I hope you do meet the right people out there. It makes all the difference.
