I think if you have time set aside to do a fast where you don't have commitments then you are in a good position to follow the fast as you see fit.
For me, going for a walk is refreshing during a fast. Mostly I feel like doing very little physical activity which is probably what the body needs during a fast.
The art of a fast could very well be found in the balance between activity and boredom.
