Oh, I don't know...it's hard to say what it means when it is placed here out of context. However, I will say this --- generally speaking when someone "takes a lover", it is referring to an extramarital affair. If the person is unmarried and unattached and "takes a lover", it usually means that the person taking a lover isn't interested in a long-term relationship.Forum: Relationship, Love, Women’s Forum
