This is false, Bill Gates invented the microsoft windows operating system, and Steve Jobs invented the apple or Mac operating system. Bill Gates went to Harvard, although I'm not sure if he finished his studies.

Most computer code writers do have tertiary or university education, as do most software designers, although there are some gifted amatures, as there are in many areas of science. None of these people invented the binary code system, which all computer programing is based on, this was done in the universities by mathematicians and physisists.

This site gives a reasonably accurate account of how the internet, and specifically the world wide web, got started.
