just got off the phone with dad.

the doctor today said he did not need blood drawn. he has a genetic disorder called hemochromatiosis. it is due to a recessive gene. it allows iron to build up in the body and not be released or a balance maintained. the build up is fatal over time. iron deposits in the heart, lungs, liver, spleen, pancreas, kidneys and muscles. giving massive amounts of blood is the only thing that uses up these stores and returns the body to proper function. he has been on maintenance treatments for years now. he always has blood drawn until this time.

also, his blood sugar was 110, everything was good and normal. the doctor did try to tell him that 150 cholesterol was too high. i told him it sounded perfect to me and that he doesnt need any meds for cholesterol. hes 75, for goodness sake, he doesnt need to try to have a stroke by lowering his cholesterol any more!

my dad takes 2 drops of magnascent and four drops of SSKI twice daily, as well as some herbs and selenium. his doctor still doesnt know he isnt taking the diabetes pills. lol he doesnt want to stop checking his sugar so he lets him write the script.
