I hope Telman's around to answer you, but the thing that has made the most significant difference for me, came from Telman telling me that bile is made up of cholestrol, bile salts, and choline. If bile salts and choline are out of balance, the cholestrol is not going to be emulsified/liquified, and eliminated through the bile and bowel.

After two years of having to do liver flushes regularly (no gallbladder), when Telman gave me that information, I started right away on ox-bile, and phosphatidyl choline with each meal.

For the first month or so, it will be working to clear out stuff in the liver, and getting the bile working like it needs to be. If the bile doesn't have the bile salts and choline to balance out the cholestrol, the cholestrol will continue to build up; stones will continue forming; toxins will not be getting eliminated as they need to be; bowels probably aren't working to clean out several times per day; and the liver becomes "fatty".

Detox pathways in the liver require specific things to work. Choline is needed for "methylation".

Heavy metals will also mess up liver function. Toxic copper will be a problem with stagnant bile, because it's eliminated through the bile. The catch .22, is it also causes liver dysfunction. Larry Wilson has alot of good information on toxic copper.

Notice the supplements Cutler talks about in this link, also talking about toxic copper...ox bile, phosphatidyl choline, taurine, glycine and other things. Molybdenum is used in copper detox. It is also needed by the liver for the sulfation pathway, to convert sulfites to sulfates.
