If I buy medicinal mushroom extracts, my preferred brand is 'Mushroom Science' : http://mushroomscience.com/ hot water extracts are important, you can read about it here: http://mushroomscience.com/msstore/hot_water_extracts.html
It's cheaper from iherb: http://www.iherb.com/MushroomScience
I only buy the Reishi Gano 161 from iherb. You can use the discount code "MAY985" to get $5 off your first order from iherb.
From my research , I think Mushroom Science is the most trusted brand (and the only one David Wolfe uses), however, I really like New Chapter products too.
The (Birch) Chaga, my partner and I have sourced wild ones locally so have our own fresh supply. We've also got our own supply of maitake and Lion's Mane when in season and brew a lot of tonics ourselves. Another wonderful mushroom are the Birch Polypores .... we have found a LOT of them in our local forests.
I like making myco brews mixed with other Chinese tonic herbs ... Goji berries, astragalus, shizandra berries + eucommia bark or ho shou wu (fo-ti root) + anything else to hand. I'll also buy large packs of sliced up Reishi to add to the pot.
I often brew the tonic soup and then freeze into ice cubes and then take a few ice cubes out and add them to smoothies as and when needed.
