Maya, what a lovely post!
So happy for you that you can get the help for your dog, even though in an around way. You see, you've helped someone and in turn you got helped. Isn't it wonderful to share knowledge?
Since reading your previous post, Gee have had no cooked food, raw only. His favourite, lamb. I have started giving him supplements I've had at home.
Interesting about the emotional part.
We have inherited him. We;ve never had a pet, because I was worried, we cannot give them quality care, time. Always felt a bad mother to refuse my son's request for a pet. I knew he would not walk dog, etc. My son is 21 now, his friend has moved away, was not allowed to take his 6 months old rotti, and since we have the big enough backyard, and dog knew my son, friend asked if my son would take him. I must stress, this friend, a young man of 21 has taken the very best care of this animal. Physically and emotionally. Although they did say goodbye to each otherk, so I wonder if this has upset this dog somehow. My son has brought home puppy without permission. To say the least, I've nearly had a heart attack. I was scared of him first, mainly because of rottis' reputation. 4 days later, my son said, he is passing the dog onto some other friend who aleady has two rotties. I was not happy but didn't wan to stop him. After some chat, my son admitted he wants to give the dog away, as he is scared of him. I guess, for the same reason I was. I've asked, than why did he bring him home? He answered he felt sorry for dog and friend. This was in mid-August, dog became quicly attached to me, actually to all family. I've became the main carer, had him de-sexed. vaccinated. (Local Council demands this, or dog may end up in pound) Dog is very calm, obeying, often over affectionate, wanting uddles, rubs as soon as he's neaer me. So I think, if he has had any emotional issues, maybe he has resolved them very quickly (on the surface?) In the last 6 days, when taken out for a walk, after a km, he sits down, refuses to move. I can't work it out if he's in pain, tired, or just doesn't want to go home. He sits on nature strip, very alert, but calm, watching cars,people going by. I can beg, ask, threaten him, tickle his paws, he won't move only in his time. This could be up to half an hour. Then as soon as we turn into our court, he plonks down again. So this has become another problem. Otherwise, very loving, calm, doesn't bark, welcomes our friends. Interested in everything, watches what's going on the household, seem to understand each family member's name. I have promised to previous owner and to myself, I shall take care of this dog the best I am able to.
Maya, you sound such a caring person, this is why I've dared to write out my worries, problems regarding this intelligent addition to our family.
