Infinite potential isn;t a belief it is a concept that allows all these theories to coexist.

And of course you can do what you want. You get that in christianity too. it;'s called "free will."

The difference is there is no need for a goofy god character to delve out rewards and penalties whilst engaging in a "loving" game of soul mining.
