No offense meant, but, I find it rather ironic that you would be worried about whether or not he was seeing someone else, considering your past posts here...

Anyway, if he's not in a committed relationship with someone else and is just playing the field right now, I don't think that should be a concern on a first date. If a first date leads to a second, then a third, etc. and things seem to be getting serious, that's when you both explore the possibility of an exclusive relationship.
