Maca Powder for hormonal balancing:

My daughter has had menstrual problems for a long time now and since she was in her teens the dr put her on low dose of birth control pills to help regulate her periods.It has helped somewhat but she also experiences a lot of menstrual cramps for the first two days.I myself experienced a lot of pains before the birth of my children but if I had known what I do now about natural healing it would have been different.

Anyways,I'm really worried about the long term usage and damage to her by those meds but she's in the final year of her phd and says she cannot take any chances and come off of them or her period will go crazy on her again and she really can't risk that right now.

I've convinced her to try maca powder(not an easy thing as she is doing researches in mollecular genetics).My question is:

Would it be any good if she takes the maca powder while on the bc or would that be useless?
I know Mama Catpatch posted about it a while ago so any info would be quite welcome.
