Gallstones respond to herbal remedies and liver-flushing when they are immature cholesterol stones. The older they get the more difficult they are to remove by dissolving techniques and there come a time when they turn plastic in nature. Plastic cholesterol will not dissolve nor will will calcium gallstones. Some stones are composite consisting of hard and soft layers.

However, stones of any type tend to alter the biliary process and soft cholesterol stones form as well. Often these satellite stones cause the problems as they become mobile.
