I think you need the pain becuase it is the only thing that makes you feel alive. There is passion in pain.

You certainly do make a lot of vague excuses for not seeing a counselor. It is not a shameful thing to do, in fact in this day and age, it is a bit of a status symbol.

So don't go to a counselor. Go to a life coach. Someone who can guide you in the right direction for making positive changes in your life, socially, economically, or wherever they are needed.

Take a yoga class.
Try meditation.
Do some fasting.
See a nutritionist.
Do a lot of cardio.
Get a dog.

There are many things you can do besides see a shrink...and they might even work better.

I have been alone all my life...basically. Even when I had relationships...there was no intimacy, so I was alone.

Come middle age, it became a crisis.

Now, however, I have learned to like myself enough that being alone is OK. In fact, it is preferable. Less complicated.

The fact is that most people are not compatible, so most relationships either fizzle out or become boring places where comfort overrules the fear of change.

If this is your fate, work on becoming your own best friend (see the list above and/or add your own ideas) and learn to accept "what is".
