the woes of being a parent.

this is why they call being a mom or dad..."the hardest job in the world". i'm going to be brutally honest with you, as i do with everyone...there's very little you can do being that he's an adult and so is she. unfortunately. people on this board will tell you to do this or that, that's all well and good. here's what i do know about 20-something guys: the girlfriend rules. she's got what he wants, for whatever reason, and until he tires of it or grows out of it, you the parent will be pushed to the side. that's reality. she controls him. he lets himself be controled. you're out of the picture. harsh words to read...harsh emotions to feel.

i wouldn't do anything out of the norm such as turn off the phone. that will just demonstrate how much of a bitch you are (tongue in cheek). let your boy learn the hard way. and the hard way he shall learn. your boy is headed for an emotional ass-kick'in in the worst way and this temptress is going to deliver the goods. it must happen on its own. you are not an influence to an adult male as you traditionally hoped you would be. that's the cold, hard reality of parenthood.

after you raise those kids, it's up to them to choose correctly and one of my top overall truths of life is that the person you select as a mate (other than choice of faith) is the number one determining factor in how your life will turn out. good or bad. if he dumps her eventually, you got lucky. if he lives with her or marries...you're outta luck. live your life and...and there's no easy way to tell you this...but...let your son fall hard.
