I don't know.  But I personally will not get near the stuff.  Vitamin C is not naturally lipid soluble. So it is going to enter parts of the cells that do not normally contain vitamin C.  What are the long term effects of having foreign substances that do not normally go in to those parts of the cell?  I doubt if anyone really knows, and I don't intend on being someone's guinea pig.  Natural source of vitamin C are far superior to synthetic ascorbic acid in most cases to begin with.  And if I want to pump my body full of unproven synthetics there are pharmaceutical drugs for that.
