I can't fault your logic. It is pretty much my own view of candidiasis. It is why I have been nervous about taking an azole antifungal. I believe I have had candidiasis for so long that I do not have confidence that azole treatment will totally clear up my fungal Candida, whether it's extracellular, intracellular or hidden in biofilm.

It always annoys me when a doctor or naturopath says I don't have a Candida problem because no Candida was found in my stool test. It just shows how ignorant they are. They just don't comprehend that yeast overgrowth is not the main problem of candidiasis, it is the fungal Candida within my bowel wall causing my leaky bowel that is the real problem.
While fungicidal drugs may be a solution, they are not available to me at the moment. Further, even if you could kill every last trace of Candida in your body, can you be confident of not being reinfected as soon as you stop antifungals? Candida is everywhere. If you kiss your girlfriend, and she has Candida in her mouth, then you may get it back again. You might get infected from public toilet door handles. You get my drift .... Don't get me wrong, having access to good fungicidals would be great, but are they really the only solution?
I think you will agree CMI (Th1) is the real issue here. If we could get our bodies to fight Candida better the problem would be fixed in no time. So, what you are doing with chelation may fix this. Some probiotics, such as Bacillus subtilis may stimulate a better intestinal immune response. Zinc is supposed to be important for intestinal CMI. Don't rule out the possibility of a bacterial pathogen also keeping your body in Th2. There is Prof De Meirleir’s theory that H2S producing bacteria interfere with the body's ability to remove mercury. I don't have all the answers, just suggesting that fungicidal drugs may not be the only avenue, or even the best avenue for long term success.
But what would I know. I'm still no better. :)
