Hope the road trip is going well, and that the Weather is better where you are than where I am (north east, u.s) It's been so extreme I've not even been able to get out of the house at times- tho I must admit Im shy to leave my comfy lair at the best of times anyway BECAUSE I LOOK LIKE A DAMN LEPER!

...I will look into the Insect Growth Regulator thing- sounds scary tho' and I remember back in the day when I thought mites might be involved and I used premethrin and had terrible icy creepy poisoned feeling from that.

Your hubby's thing sounds like a Candida kind of thing to me.
Our immune systems being compromised- (and the skin being weakened in ppl with lesion manifestations) I imagine opportunistic infections could catch hold pretty easily?
It also sound like an allergic reaction of some kind.

God, will we all ever get through all this?
My dearest hope is that WE ALL will look back one day and sigh a breath of relief that it is over and in the PAST, and smile a little smile about all the strength and support we received here from each other....

tho' I wonder if I will EVER feel safe again around bodies of water, animals, insects, soil etc. etc.
