"Top Quality" Aloe Gel?

I presume the best quality gel comes fresh from the fat, just-cut leaf of your own potted aloe vera plant. Is that true? They're very easy to grow. This is another great recipe.

Wow. These herbs are not that expensive. Myrrh powder @ $12 per pound, Slippery Elm @ $20. Ech a. @25. I'm reminded of all those folks spending thousands on "survival gear" who would do well to include a pound or two of certain herbs, which could be cycled for freshness, of course. Don't forget a case or two of cheap vodka! And big bag of good salt for pickling. How about a quarter pound of Chenopodium album seed (Lambs Quarters) available for $18 from JHHudson Seeds? I think the seeds last for years, maybe decades, and they grow like weeds, because they are weeds. Just scrape open the ground and scatter them around for a no-frills, no-work greens garden. Save your folding money for more important stuff, such as twelve-gage shells!
