Re: HV - can you strengthen the bladder?

 My 7 yo son is still struggling with holding his bladder at certain times. If he has any fruit (or juice) after 4 PM or if we go swimming late in the day (drinking pool water - yuck!), then he will not be able to hold his bladder during the night. During the day, once he gets the urge, he isn't able to hold it very long. It doesn't seem to be a lack of desire or that he is playing and doesn't want to be taken away to use the bathroom. At night he is a real sound sleeper though. Would Marshmallow Root (powder) be the best to strengthen his bladder?

Yes.  Marshmallow root is very good for toning the bladder.  Mullein root is even better, but is not commercially available.  This is something you would have to collect yourself if it grows in your area.  Otherwise the marshmallow root is readily available. 

A small amount of magnesium malate, or other smooth muscle relaxant, can also help as it will help relax the bladder reducing urges and bladder spasms.

Would the dosage be 1/4 of adult dosage (he weighs appx 40 lbs) like maybe 1/8 tsp.?

Other than with autoimmune conditions the marshmallow root is safe.  He can actually take more than an 1/8th of a teaspoon.  Actually a 1/4tsp 3 times daily would be good to tone the bladder without acting like a laxative.

As for the magnesium I recommend 100mg  1-2 times daily.  Other options to the magnesium would be kudzu root or cramp bark.

Do you know of any particular foods that are good/bad for this condition?

Dark green leafy vegetables for their magnesium content.

As always, James, I am grateful for your continued help in this forum. Don't pay attention to the negative parts of curezone that don't appreciate you. Tough to do when you are made the scapegoat for everything.  The trolls have complained about everything I have done.  Using too many exclamation marks, bolding my words to separate my text from what I am responding to, responding to attacks, claiming I was the one that forced Moreless off the boards........   I am surprised the trolls have not accused me of starting the Revolutionary War!!!

Oh well, I have come up with a solution.  I am spending more time writing articles on all the quackery and I am putting them on my own website then linking them back here to CZ.  This way they cannot edit or hide my posts like the con-TROLL-ing moderators have done in the past.  And since they are articles and not posts the trolls cannot post attacks against my evidence of the quackery.  And since these articles will also be found by the search engines people will see the truth and will be able to make informed decisions.  It is like I told one of the master trolls here on CZ a while back, "you can censor me here on Curezone, but you cannot censor the internet".

I am going to spend more time finishing my book as well so I can get that out there.  Once that is finished then I will really hit the articles heavier.  Or I am thinking about writing some e-books on some of the quack claims I keep running across, especially when it comes to the unproven cancer treatments being discussed since they ate the most dangerous.
