That sounds frustrating.
I really do not know anything about rosacea.
My mother-in-law cannot tolerate being in the sun because of a prescription that she has been taking (for years). She also is not taking Vit D. I worry about her sometimes, but she is a fearful about somethings and so it wouldn't do any good to make recommendations to her.
I thought I would relate my experience with you *just in case it could be a factor*, but I had some bad symptoms develop from taking Krill oil. Krill oil has astaxanthin in it which may have been the culprit in my own problems. Dr. Mercola recommends it highly, which was why I tried it.
I noticed that my arms would ache when I took it, and my eyesight became very sensitive to sunlight. Over time I began to get symptoms of high estrogen. And finally I began spotting between periods and noticed I had a weird pain in my pelvis along with heavier periods.
I also tried Astaxanthin on two different occasions and both times I took it 2-3 days. Each occasion I took it I had an extreme reaction that was horrible. The first time I got stung on the nose by an angry bee. My face swelled up something horrible, to the point where I couldn't see.(I looked like the beast from beauty and the beast!) The glands in my neck swelled up like golf balls. My entire body ached like I had been hit by a truck.
I had never previously had a reaction to bee stings. It lasted a good long week and I felt so sick and looked hideous.
The second time I tried Astaxanthin I went to watch a football game my son was playing in. I got a sunburn on my lip. It swelled up HUGE. Again I had similar symptoms as the bee sting. I had body aches and my lip oozed and bled and it was horrible. I looked hideous (again) and felt sick for a week. And again I never before had a reaction to the sun like that, and I haven't had any problems since I quit taking it.
It has taken me sometime to realize I should stop taking Krill oil. I mostly stopped in the fall, but even in the winter months I would try it occasionally, wanting to believe it was healthy for me.
I can't say other people should not take Astaxanthin or Krill oil. For all I know, I'm just a strange bird and things affect me much differently. But I thought I would share my experience just in case.
