Re: swollen eyes. help!

I have the same problem with my eyes swelling & it drives me crazy not knowing exactly what is causing it. I have done the food diary, stayed off dairy, wheat etc but it hasnt stopped the symptoms. I have done all the cleanses too.

I was told a few years ago that I was sensitive to salicylates & I did a heap of research on it but it got too hard & I thought 'stuff it I enjoy the taste of these foods; I will just keep an eye on it'! But these symptoms wont go away & it knocks me around. So I do have to treat it seriously when it sucks the life out of me & I end up sleeping from exhaustion. All the foods you listed are 'ditto' for me too, and cucumber & grapes are high in salicylates too!!

I recently found an online book called 'The Salicylate Handbook' by Sharla Rice (it's not expensive & it has heaps of excellent information)

Also salicylates apparently cannot be tested for, which makes it really tricky. It's normally the people who have tried everything & know they are sensitive or allergic to something & cant find the answer. I was told by a computer a few years ago that I was hooked up to that did a print-out of my health (so initially I didn't know whether it was 100% fact or not; but after years of keeping an eye on foods with salicylates the symptoms bombard me when I eat the wrong things!

Also apparently Salicylates build up in the kidneys, when too much is accumulated in the bod. I do get mysterious aches in the kidneys when I over do the salicylates. But it is really hard to stay off them all the time. I just try and monitor it. I hope this helps!
