A Short Vacation

Spent some time with the Amish Healer...saw his place in the mountains.

Learned:
he is an expert machinest...never did I know this! Never had I looked inside his barns when he lived in Ohio. He has recreated his machine shop in Pa. and removed all the 3 phase motors form the huge machines and put pullies on them and shafts in the floor and can run the entire shop from 1 source...he says he taught himself and loves to make preceison metals......go figure!

Such as:
4 years ago this guy comes to him with a hole in his stomach. Seems this third colon surgery that removed colon/intestines each time removed so much that the surgeon left a large hole in the gut that allowed the colon to dump out where his belly button use to be...stating he screwed the surgeries up and there was not enough colon left to sew together...and the MD told the man he would be dead in 48 hours and go home and die.

I assume the hospital wanted him to die at home and not be seen as a death created by a botched surgery...

So this guy is trucked to the Amish Healer and had poop oozing out his belly...and wanted him do do surgery and save his life..

Instead the Amish Healer sad the only possible way to save his life was to expertly fast the man and he did this under his 24 hour care for 21 days and then sewed him up with no indication what the hospital had done to him.....he said the man recovered 100% and is living a normal life 4 years later.....

Just 1 of thousands of stories this man knows...he has saved so many in the past 40 years...

He turned 70 while we were there, so we treated him to a really cool hunting knife and an expensive flashlight as well, birthday card and his favorite food.....all to his surprise!

His wife said they were out of potatoes and living on what they have left and what is coming fresh in the garden. They have deer and turkey in the mountains behind them with lots of bear and mountain lions.

They have chickens and a cow. as a treat, they had home-made yogurt from the cow milk...(I didn't taste it).

He is poor, all his neighbors Amish and English alike are all very poor...your typhical "hillbillies" for sure....very/very happy hillbiliies......

He did take sick a month ago, so he tried fasting and on the 7th day he was so weak, he could only crawl and his wife too old to help him move. an MD from Ohio learned that he was bad off and came to him. Seems his infection started at the colon, went down his leg to his ankle and made him so sick he could not walk or stand at all...and he went dilusional at one point...while in bed, he told his wife he was in the creek and his leg was stuck in the mud and that he could not get out of the creek......it seems his mind was making up a story to rationalize why his leg hurt so bad and why he could not move and to him, it seemed all so real....she knew then, her husband was in trouble...

the MD cut his ankle and let out the pus and it took about 30 days for him to return to normal.

Why did he have such a bad time??? We started asking questions:
1. We learned he did a 7 day water fast.

Water fasting can kill people!!!!!!!!!!!! It almost killed him. he should have known better, because he always does coffee enemas, regular enemas and watchs his patients 24/7 while fasting them, but with himself, he didn't follow his own rules and he doesn't use the LBB capsules because capsule herbs cost to much in his figuring, etc......and the enema is cheaper...

So whatever was his source of infection (probably his teeth/diet) ended up in the colon, couldn't get out and went down his leg and about killed him.

Once recovered, he looks great for 70 and says he feels like a young man. He says he can run those mountains chasing bear / deer...and just having fun...says he oftens gets up at 4 am, walks the mountain in the dark so he can see the sun rise!

He is known by every Amish person in the USA and Canada...because of that, his name on a product would be worth allot of $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$. I told him that he easily could have made 20x more $$$ than he ever has in his life if he sold his name....and he knew that....I did this because he has a desire to build his home on 4 acreas on top of the mountain behind his house....no water, no electric....just a simple structure he could live his days out in seclusion...he said that land is so secluded, that he feels alone with God there.

We suggested he had better get with it, because at age 70 and having such a serious bout with his health, that if he wants to see that cabin on the hill ever built, he had better seek some $$$$ from somewhere....

What he did:
he gave his farm in ohio to his children.
he borrowed all the $$$ to buy the land where he lives now and owes more than he ever has in his lifetime.....so Brenda and I don't have much hopes that he will build this cabin on the mountain top anytime soon!

If I had the extra $$$$ to do it, I would give it to him; just to have a place to stop by once a year and say ; "hi". but like him, I owe more $$$ than I ever have in my lifetime...seems we Americans, Amish or English like to be in debt and be true Americans!

I took alot of pictures, saw his system, talked to his buddies; i have the whole picture now. i can honestly say they are living in hard times. his youngest son turned 19, his 1 hand is no good. his older brother was born with polio and i am not sure what is wrong with his sons hand/arm, but it dangles like it is dead and all these years we have known him, we have never asked. It almost looks like he would be better off to cut it off.

Their garden seems to be more rock than dirt and quite the struggle to scratch a living out of it. Naturaly the bear wants their food! his wife has to be near 70 and she many times has come in and told him that the weeds can wait till tomorrow because she saw a bear watching her from the bushes....

milk your cow, tend your chickens and be the most called Amish man in the entire world????????????? his neighbors phone never stops ringing..........people from coast to coast and canada with burns and injuries....

His neighbors now have jobs operating their cars and trucks as Amish taxies hauling the injured too and from and taking him to them, etc....

Several hospitals seek him now...his neighbor was telling us a story of one hospital he went to teach them how to care for burned people; had put a huge sign out front with his name saying "welcome"!!!!!!!!!!! He said that old Amish man cried when he saw that sign.....a modern day burn hospital welcoming "him" to be their teacher for a day!!!!!!!!!!!!! He never beleived such days would come..

Yet he is so poor it is unreal....and that is probably why he is still as healthy as he is. He must work if he is to make a living...

He does it his way, just like thousands of authors have.....none are perfect, they all fail.....but we can learn from them and seek to make the best of all they learned and do it "our way".

I gave him ideas on ways to improve the burn treatments, ways to make his book and he took notes and liked my ideas...he knows i desperatly want him to write down all his stories, so we can put them to book form and he says he is going to work harder to achieve that goal, because he wants to see all his stories on paper 1 day.

When you visit him, the world stops....they could care less about what we see on tv or read in the newspapers....and to him, that is heaven.
