In 1999, I had my plan in place and it included taking my family with me, kicking and screaming if necessary :D Unfortunately, it didn't materalize.

I don't want to live without my toys either!!  I'd have electricity, just not the grid variety.

The video ... the guys yard leaves alot to be desired, but the point was he did what he wanted.

He said he lives where it gets cold.  Heat isn't so much of a problem.  I've lived in a modern home that was completely and comfortably heated by a wood stove.  Here is SC his little cabin with no windows to speak of, you'd about suffocate inside in the summer.

The plan would have to be made to suit oneself, climate, etc.
