To diagnose gallbladder condition than warrants its removal you doctor should only recommend proceeding is you get have Gallstones visible on ultra sound AND biliary colic with elevated amylase and lipase AND fatty food intolerance, AND a thick-walled gallbladder. With all four criteria met you have a 70% chance of non-recurring symptoms and if all four are not met it fall to 50%.

Did you take Epsom Salts on an empty stomach to relieve the gallbladder attack?

If you have gallstones 20 flushes in 8 years is probably insufficient. You need 20 flushes in 18 month in order to prevent the bile stagnation and also deal with the root problem that is causing them.

The problem that is causing you the attacks isn't the stones trying to escape it is more commonly the sludge and soft (non ultra sound opaque) stones that congregate around the stones. The stones have the tendency to change bile chemistry so that bile tends to clump.
