I took tramadol/ultram for migraines in the past and went off it cold turkey. This med has a half life of 6-7 hours. I 'got' AF from going off of tramadol cold turkey over 2 years ago. I was almost normal before the cold turkey event, and I hit death's door after the cold turkey event, and have been hovering at the low stage of AF ever since then. It was a night and day occurance. I did not get AF gradually.
So, you can see that I am very afraid of going off anything cold turkey, even though lexapro and tramadol are two totally different meds. For some reason, my body hangs on to meds tenaciously. I did a ridiculously slow taper off of HC recently, and even that was tough.
