No, Leukemia would not return soon after stopping a water-only-fast because the metabolic toxic environment that lay as its cause has been eradicated, and where the body has had time to regulate and normalize its metabolic functions and processes.
In my own case I had to undergo two prolonged fasts with careful refeeding between the two in replenishing an optimized nutritional status, and to achieve the maximum healing possible. It is well known amongst Hygienists that blood counts of red and white cells (for example) are normalized during a water-only-fast.

The premise is that disease has two universal causes: toxemia and nutritional deficiencies; both of which lay the foundation for disease, so in a body that is not enervated and free from toxemia, and whose life-force is in abundance via lifestyle choices in accord with our physiological being, AND optimized nutritionally, viruses and harmful bacteria cannot take a foothold, and cell replication and metabolic functions are normalized. This is very much in line with Hygiene presently practiced generally to avoid contagious diseases such as Typhus, dysentery, smallpox, diphtheria, influenza and so on, and which can become rampant if Hygienic conditions are absent.
I believe it was Florence Nightingale that contributed to our knowledge of external environmental cleanliness in the avoidance and spread of infectious diseases in using Hygiene.

Fasting per-se though does not actually cure anything, but only provides the body with the ideal conditions for its self-repair, healing and cleansing at the cellular level. Only the body can cleanse itself on a water-only-fast and in the most thorough manner possible.
