Several years ago, I had (I think) a gall bladder attack. It was an intense, double over cramping kind of pain and a lot of gas pains. I think I literally ate an entire bottle of phazyme capsules for the gas. The next day I had a lot of tenderness in my abdomen. Greasy foods (like pizza and fried chicken) were painful to eat. The one thing that I could eat without problems was green salads. I went to the grocery store and got bitter greens (dandelion, chicory), radishes, granny smith apples. I made a huge salad of the greens, radishes and apples and I garnished with chopped up crystalized ginger (to help off set the sourness of the apples) and I topped my salad with 1/4 cup each of pure lemon juice and extra virgin olive oil. I used the frozen Minute Maid pure lemon juice (no preservatives or water -- just lemon juice). Within a couple of days, I was passing gall stones.

I also took Planetary Formula's Stone Free for a few months. Because of this attack, I developed IBS pretty bad. I ended up going to a GI doctor who diagnosed IBS when he found out that I had fibromyagia (he wouldn't even consider a gall bladder attack). He did prescribe a pain med for my spasms. I sense discovered that lobelia is helpful for this kind of pain.

I also began to take Primal Defense caplets (6 tablets 4 times a day) for 6 months. I must say, that while the PD was very expensive, it completely made me better. My IB went away. I wouldn't recommend you spend the money on Primal Defense today, though. The formula has been changed and some strains have been removed. Swanson Vitamins has an Soil Based probiotics that is identical to the original ingredients of Primal Defense (before the reformulation) and is way cheaper -- $9.99 as opposed to $23.90 for 90 caps.
