Hello everyone! Hope you are having a wonderful energetic day =)
My fatigue symptoms started about 1 year ago after starting a more challenging work schedule which affected my sleep, eating, and exercise which had already all been very important to me feeling well. I began to have headaches everyday which make me nauseous and became prone to lightheadedness and fainting in response to stressors such as heat or standing for long periods of time when tired. Fluorescent and intense lighting can bring the above symptoms as well, whereas before lighting didn't cause any sort of physical response from me.
My blood sugar felt low if I went too long without eating. Nothing really worked for quite awhile. I was sleeping a lot, and felt awful most of the time. My muscles started to feel weak and tired. So within the span of a couple of weeks, I went from being able to climb 30 flights of stairs without trouble to feeling to exhausted to even climb one. I gave up exercise and my gym membership.
I didn't start feeling better until a couple months ago. At that time I started chinese herbal medicine and also switched to a high protein, moderate fat, low carb diet. I had already eliminated all processed foods from my diet, but eliminating all types of grains was new for me. The new way of eating was a bit unusual to me as I had eaten a more carb and veggies focused diet before as many people do.
Miraculously, I did find that my ability to go without eating for longer extents of time increased by quite a bit. 6-8 hours on some days. This made it easier for me to distinguish when I was hungry and having symptoms reflecting that, and when I was having symptoms (lighthedness, sweating, and drops in blood pressure) which were fatigue related.
While things improved, I still didn't and don't have a lot of resistance to long stressful days. If I wake up early and do a lot of stuff one day, I'll be exhausted and have headaches the next. But it is an improvement from not being able to wake up early and do a lot in the first place...
Also I've been having headaches again recently. Almost as frequently as when I first became sick even though my energy levels have improved. Before starting the high protein diet, they had actually gone away.
I'm thinking a high protein diet isn't something I want to keep forever and it seems that raw diets have been used to cure many "incurable" disease states. Plus I've read and heard that headaches and other problems can be due to the toxins produced by digesting meat which I could believe.
I've recently began juicing more and adding more smoothies to my diet. I've been sure to stay away from too much sugar in fruits and veggies and they do seem to satisfy my body's need for nutrition.
But I wanted to hear from someone else who has gone this route if anyone what they experienced or any suggestions anyone might have? I'm not set on going entirely raw.
I just want to do whatever it takes to get rid of my headaches, fluorescent light sensitivity, and what remains of my orthostatic intolerance for good. It would be nice to find a diet that enables me to go on little or no sleep too....as that's what I will have to sometimes do for work on occasion...but getting back to working condition is the first priority.
Seriously, any ideas or shared experiences would be much appreciated and if I find anything myself i'll be sure to share, thanks! =)
