Have you tried N-acetylcysteine? Raising glutathione levels might be helpful. Maybe your metallothionein is being put to use largely to handle oxidative stress? Easing the burden by making sure your glutathione is operating in its antioxidant capacity could help. Shot in the dark, but there's an idea for you.
